The Fish Shop R & R provide various services with the ability to train in the fine art of home recording.  This has been made possible by owner/operator 'Nesta Mitchell' with his extensive experience and qualifications in this specialised field.  Go to the WEA website and signup for a chance to create your own music in your own home studio.... http://www.wea-sa.com.au

The courses usually run 4-6 times per year, and are particularly aimed at people(young and old), trying to establish/create their own music at home, or to enhance and better understand and improve their own current skills.

The basic programmes used include Adobe Audition(wave editor), Sonar(cakewalk), Fruity Loops, some E Jay drag and drop programmes, all on a PC platform. Although no MAC programmes are used, the basic principles and techniques taught can be used in a very similar way between other platforms.

The course endeavours to get people up and going at home, as well as understanding the basic elements of digital recording today.

The course usually runs on a Monday night between 7pm -9.30pm for 4 weeks, with a total of 10 hours.

Highlights

  • Introduction to Computer Music
    Making music at home today on you PC using a MIDI keyboard and sequencer can literally create your own powerful home recording setup.  This course will introduce you to the important usage of your soundcard, combined with relevant software programs and equipment widely available today.  No previous knowledge required.

Tutorial DVD $20. This includes shareware/freeware programs, some samples, MIDI files, and some small soundfonts, as well as some of the current course notes as PDF's.
